The Internal Revenue Service is reminding all Online Providers that they must complete the annual self-certification questions beginning October 1, 2026, to ensure they comply with Publication 1345 IRS e-file security, privacy, and business standards.

The reminder, issued to Authorized IRS e-file Providers and Electronic Return Originators (EROs), applies to all Online Providers, according to the IRS.

The agency also said that Authorized IRS e-file Providers who own or operate websites that collect, transmit, store or process taxpayer information must register those URLs on their e-file Application. The annual certification process includes the registration of these websites.

Providers who have not previously registered their URLs should select the URL collection link on the e-file Application information page menu to register, the IRS said.

The notice was distributed through QuickAlerts, the IRS email service for tax professionals.
