Malik Terrell, 24, of Washington, D.C., was sentenced today to 87 months in prison for his role in a 2023 kidnapping that resulted in the deaths of two individuals. Terrell pleaded guilty on February 10, 2026, to kidnapping and aiding and abetting, with U.S. District Judge Colleen Kollar-Kotelly also ordering five years of supervised release.
U.S. Attorney Jeanine Ferris Pirro emphasized the severity of the crime, saying, “Malik Terrell and his co-conspirators kidnapped two people at gunpoint, beat them, and set off a chain of events that ended with two men dead. This was brutal, deliberate violence, and it cost lives. Today’s sentence makes clear that anyone who takes part in deadly conduct will face serious and lasting consequences.”
Court documents detail that in the early hours of June 9, 2023, Terrell and nine co-conspirators accosted Victim-1 in his Mercedes SUV on F Street SE. Terrell assisted in preventing both Victim-1 and Victim-2 from fleeing as the group confined Victim-1, stripped his clothing, and stole his belongings. The victims were then driven away in the Mercedes, while Terrell and three others followed in a Nissan Altima.
The victims were transported to a nearby location where they were threatened, assaulted at gunpoint, and sustained serious injuries. The group then moved Victim-1 across state lines into Maryland, stopping in Suitland and Waldorf. A shootout erupted around 5:45 a.m. in a Waldorf parking lot, leading to the deaths of Victim-1 and another individual. An hour later, the Mercedes was found engulfed in flames in Capitol Heights, Maryland. The case was investigated by the FBI’s Washington Field Office, Charles County Sheriff’s Office, and Metropolitan Police Department.
