The U.S. Department of Homeland Security said U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement has removed more than 2,000 known or suspected terrorists from the United States under President Donald J. Trump.
From January 20, 2025 to September 9, 2026, ICE arrested more than 2,150 known or suspected terrorists in the United States and deported 2,015, DHS said in a statement released ahead of the 25th anniversary of the September 11 attacks.
"As we reflect on the 25th anniversary of the September 11 attacks, the brave men and women of ICE continue to carry out their duty to protect the homeland and keep the American people safe," said DHS Secretary Markwayne Mullin. "Under President Trump's strong leadership, ICE has arrested more than 2,100 known or suspected terrorists, and has deported more than 2,000 known or suspected terrorists from our country. When we say 'never forget,' we are dedicating our lives to eternal vigilance so that we will never see a terrorist attack like that on American soil ever again."
DHS cited several examples of those arrested and deported. Abraham Hermosillo Alvarez, an illegal alien from Mexico, was arrested in Omaha, Nebraska, and charged with being the ringleader of the failed terrorist plot against UFC Freedom 250 in June, the department said. He entered the United States on a B-2 visitor visa and failed to depart before it expired in December 2001, and was granted Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals in 2014, according to DHS.
Felipe Linares De Oliveira Dell Aquilla, an illegal alien from Brazil and former commander of Primeiro Comando da Capital and Comando Vermelho, both designated foreign terrorist organizations, was arrested in Mooresville, North Carolina, in June while holding his own wife hostage against her will as he prepared to flee to Mexico, DHS said.
DHS also said four members of the terrorist organization Tren de Aragua pleaded guilty in June after being charged in a double murder in the Bronx in 2024: Keiber Jaen Martinez, Samuel Gonzalez Castro, Eferson Gabriel Morillo-Gomez and Keineyer Ibarra-Mujica, all criminal illegal aliens from Venezuela.
