Breaking Defense is reporting that the U.S. Space Force has selected Texas as the American home for the trinational DARC space radar network. It said the site is the third and final one in the multi-nation network, with civil construction expected to be completed in 2029 and operations to begin in 2030.
Breaking Defense also is reporting that defense is a key focus of a new four-year, $10.6 billion space spending plan from the United Kingdom. It said the largest Ministry of Defence investment detailed in the strategy is a planned £880 million between 2026/2027 and 2029/2030 for intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance, and space control activities.
Separately, Breaking Defense is reporting that the White House has set lofty space launch ambitions, but experts question the price tag. It said the space industry praised a new Trump administration policy calling for 1,000 launches a year, but experts told the outlet that current space infrastructure lacks enough capacity and that someone will have to pay, potentially a lot, to change that.
Breaking Defense also is reporting on why propulsion could be the critical piece in the Golden Dome architecture, noting that throttleable systems, boost-phase interception and new manufacturing capacity could expand missile defense options.
