The U.S. Department of Homeland Security announced that U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has lodged a detainer for Javier Cereque-Perez, an illegal alien arrested on charges of attempted rape and sexual misconduct with a child in Indiana.
Cereque-Perez, from Mexico, faces two counts of attempting to commit rape, sexual misconduct with a minor, and sexual battery. These charges stem from an August 2024 incident near Fishers, Indiana, where an underage victim reported inappropriate touching and an attempted rape in a vehicle. An arrest warrant was issued in December 2024.
ICE, in a joint operation with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), arrested Cereque-Perez in Indianapolis on July 6, 2026. He was subsequently turned over to the Fishers Police Department. The detainer has been lodged with the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office, where he is currently held.
Assistant Secretary Lauren Bis said, "This illegal alien is charged with attempted rape, sexual misconduct with a child, and sexual battery after he allegedly tried to rape a child in 2024. Thanks to our law enforcement partners at the federal and local levels, he will now face justice for his crimes."
