Newsweek is reporting that a federal judge temporarily blocked Trump's ban on CNN, MS NOW and Politico, ordering the administration to immediately restore the outlets' White House press credentials. It said U.S. District Judge Timothy James Kelly, appointed by Trump during his first term, issued a temporary restraining order preventing enforcement of the ban for 14 days while the outlets' legal challenge proceeds. Newsweek said Kelly found the news organizations were likely to succeed in showing the administration failed to provide required due process before revoking their access, and that the outlets received no advance notice or chance to challenge the decision before their hard passes were deactivated and confiscated. It said the outlets were barred last week after Trump accused them of reporting "FICTION and LIES." The Department of Justice had argued White House access is "a privilege—not a right," Newsweek said.
