The Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments (COG) has issued a drought watch for Fairfax County and six million residents across the District of Columbia, suburban Maryland, and Northern Virginia. This action comes due to unusually dry conditions expected to persist despite recent rainfall.
Regional officials emphasized that the Potomac River currently maintains an adequate water supply. However, the drought watch serves as a precautionary measure to address the ongoing dry spell in the metropolitan area.
