It said a promotional video for the project features gold escalators, a decommissioned Air Force One and terraces, resembling a glitzy gathering spot rather than a scholarly research hub. TIME said fundraising for Trump's project is currently underway while he sits in the Oval Office. It said Meta and ABC News paid a combined $40 million to settle complaints of unfairness from the president. TIME said critics decried these settlements as thinly veiled shakedowns, and the money will seed Trump's library ambitions, which could ultimately cost more than $1 billion.
