Library of Congress Unveils 'The Declaration’s Promise' Exhibition

A new exhibition, "The Declaration’s Promise: A Revolutionary Idea," opens July 3 at the Library of Congress, exploring the Declaration of Independence's principles and their 250-year impact on American history.

On view in the David M. Rubenstein Treasures Gallery until July 3, 2027, the exhibition features Thomas Jefferson’s rarely displayed original rough draft of the Declaration. It traces the founding document's influence since 1776.

The exhibition highlights how principles like self-government, natural rights, and equality among people became resounding themes throughout American history.
