U.S. Census Bureau Releases Comprehensive 2024 Economic Survey Data

The U.S. Census Bureau today released the full dataset from the 2024 Annual Integrated Economic Survey (AIES), offering a single, comprehensive annual snapshot of U.S. employer businesses.

This dataset provides detailed economic data, including business revenue, expenses, payroll, and employment at various geographies. The release includes information at the national, regional, and divisional levels, with state-level estimates available for selected sectors, which are based on the North American Industry Classification System (NAICS).

The AIES covers domestic, private sector, and nonfarm employer businesses that were in operation for at least some part of 2024. These businesses are located in one of the 50 states or the District of Columbia and are classified in one of the 19 in-scope sectors defined by the 2017 NAICS.
