The U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) announced that crime rates have fallen to historic lows across the country, attributing this decline to the deportation of criminal illegal aliens under President Trump's leadership.
Data from the first half of 2026 shows significant reductions compared to the previous year. Homicides decreased by 18%, putting them on pace for the lowest level in 126 years. Carjackings saw a 47% drop, motor vehicle thefts were down 20%, robberies fell by 17%, and residential burglaries decreased by 13%.
Assistant Secretary Lauren Bis commented on the findings, saying, "President Trump promised to make America safe again, and he has done just that. Crime has fallen to record lows under the Trump Administration, including murders on pace to drop to the lowest level in 126 years. It’s no surprise that this drop in crime coincides with deportations of dangerous criminal illegal aliens. It is common sense. When you remove criminals from the country, crime rates fall."
The DHS highlighted numerous recent deportations of individuals with extensive criminal histories, including gang members convicted of homicide, assault, robbery, carjacking, and drug trafficking. These individuals, from various countries including El Salvador, Vietnam, Mexico, and Honduras, were removed throughout July.
