Governor Josh Green's administration is advancing key initiatives in June 2026, focusing on infrastructure, environmental stewardship, and public safety across Hawaiʻi.

The Wahiawā Dam Rehabilitation Project commenced on May 11, 2026, with a blessing, aiming to upgrade the dam and spillway to meet current safety standards and ensure continued water support. Concurrently, Governor Green joined emergency officials on May 21 to launch a statewide hurricane preparedness push, urging residents to prepare before the storm season.

The Hawaiʻi Community Development Authority (HCDA) is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year, marking five decades of contributions to infrastructure, housing, and economic development, including the creation of over 13,000 residential units in Kakaʻako. The Department of Land and Natural Resources (DLNR) also kicked off its Coastal Kuleana campaign on May 16, connecting children to ecosystems and inspiring coastline stewardship during Kids to Parks Day.

Furthering sustainability, the Hawaiʻi Green Business Program (HGBP) is piloting a new checklist for green housing projects in 2026. Additionally, Makana McClellan, Director of Communications for the Governor's office, was recognized as the 2026 Communicator of the Year by the National Association of Government Communicators, becoming the first from Hawaiʻi to receive this national honor.
