Governor Abigail Spanberger today released a statement outlining her priorities for ongoing budget negotiations with the General Assembly, expressing confidence that a bill she can sign will be delivered on time.

Her key priorities include securing raises for teachers and other public employees, allocating funds to address rising Medicaid costs and the impacts of the "One Big Beautiful Bill," and initiatives to enhance Virginia's affordability through investments in housing and childcare programs.

Governor Spanberger also emphasized that data centers in Virginia must contribute their fair share for energy consumption. She has proposed measures to ensure data centers pay more for energy and address environmental concerns such as air pollution, water and energy usage, and noise.

"I am confident that General Assembly leadership will get a bill on my desk that I can sign on time," Governor Spanberger said, underscoring the obligation of government funders to deliver.
