Fairfax County is inviting community input on proposed updates to its zoning regulations concerning Accessory Living Units (ALUs). A new toolkit has been released to help facilitate neighborhood discussions on these secondary dwelling areas, often known as in-law suites or guest houses.
The county encourages residents to host discussions and share their feedback on the proposed changes. These units are defined as secondary dwelling areas within a single-family detached residence.
All comments regarding the proposed zoning amendments are due by September 28. This initiative aims to gather broad community perspectives before finalizing the updates.
