Cornell Chronicle is reporting that hospitals are investing in programs to reduce homelessness, including building housing, to cut emergency room costs. It also said the Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope, launched Aug. 30, will attempt to directly image a set of exoplanets.
The Chronicle is reporting that new bipartisan legislation introduced in August relies on environmental DNA techniques pioneered by retired Cornell Atkinson director David Lodge for fisheries management. Separately, The Hill is reporting that Tobias Dorr of Cornell's College of Agriculture and Life Sciences attributes the expansion of vibrio infections, or flesh-eating bacteria, beyond traditional hotspots to a warming climate. BBC is reporting that Robert Sternberg of Cornell's College of Human Ecology states that practical intelligence varies across cultures, challenging conventional views on IQ scores.
