Fairfax County Animal Services is waiving adoption fees for all pets from September 25 through September 27 as part of the BISSELL Pet Foundation's Empty the Shelters event.
The promotion covers every adoptable pet at the shelter, and the county is directing residents to its website to view the animals available.
Every dog adoption also includes a leash, collar and personalized nametag, courtesy of the Friends of the Fairfax County Animal Shelter.
For those who cannot wait until the weekend, the county will host a meet-and-greet at the Tysons Mixed Market on Thursday, September 24, from 4 to 8 p.m. at The Boro, 8350 Broad Street, Tysons, VA 22102. All adoptions or Adoption Auditions during the event are free, and participants will receive a bag of starter supplies. The county said residents can follow its social media accounts to learn which dogs will attend.
The Lorton Campus shelter, at 8875 Lorton Road, is open Tuesday and Wednesday from noon to 5 p.m., Thursday and Friday from noon to 7 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. It is closed Mondays.
