A Diamondhead, Mississippi woman, Bobbie Jean Margiotta, 65, has been sentenced to 57 months in prison and ordered to pay $928,988.37 in restitution for wire fraud, as announced by the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Southern District of Mississippi.
Margiotta served as a bookkeeper for a physician in Hancock County, Mississippi, and over nearly seven years, she stole the substantial sum from the physician and his companies. Her fraudulent scheme involved the use of interstate wires.
The Federal Bureau of Investigation investigated the case, which Assistant U.S. Attorney Jonathan Buckner prosecuted. This sentencing underscores the Department of Justice's ongoing commitment to combating fraud, aligning with efforts by the National Fraud Enforcement Division and President Trump’s Task Force to Eliminate Fraud.
