The U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has called on Connecticut sanctuary politicians to prevent the release of three illegal aliens arrested in a sting operation targeting online child predators. U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) lodged detainers for the individuals, who were among five arrested in New Britain on June 5.
The suspects, identified as Bruno Orlando Medina Mendoza and Jorge Manuel Escobar Quispe from Peru, and Raul Andrey Echavez Castro from Colombia, face charges including commercial sexual abuse of a minor, criminal attempt to commit sexual contact with a victim under 16, and second-degree sexual assault. Mendoza has a prior arrest for assault and child neglect, while Castro has a record for disturbing public peace.
Acting Assistant Secretary Lauren Bis said, "These pedophiles were RELEASED into our country by the Biden administration. We are calling on Connecticut sanctuary politicians to commit to not releasing these child predators from jail and to promise they will turn them over to ICE."
All three individuals entered the United States illegally in 2023; Quispe and Castro through Arizona, and Mendoza through California. DHS emphasizes that these individuals should not be released into American neighborhoods.
