Fairfax County has activated a 24-hour cooling center at the Jim Scott Community Center in response to extreme heat expected throughout the holiday weekend.

The county's heat plan, initially active through Friday, has been extended until Saturday, July 4. This measure ensures residents have access to air-conditioned facilities during the prolonged period of high temperatures.

Additional cooling centers across the county are also available when the heat plan is in effect, providing crucial relief for the community.
