Gov. Andy Beshear announced today that MegaFit Meals will expand its operations in Calvert City, Marshall County, with a $9.25 million investment projected to create 40 new jobs for Kentuckians. This expansion highlights continued momentum in the state’s food and beverage industry.
The expansion includes a new 40,000-square-foot food manufacturing facility near its current site. This move aims to support the company's ongoing year-over-year growth and enhance its capacity to capitalize on future opportunities. The new positions will span food manufacturing, logistics, and clerical roles, adding to the company's existing workforce of over 100 Kentuckians.
Gov. Beshear expressed his enthusiasm, saying, "I love to see Kentucky businesses thrive, and I am proud to celebrate MegaFit Meals celebrating this major expansion. I want to thank the company’s leadership for their commitment to the commonwealth and for creating new jobs for our people." Vasili Georgiou, CEO of MegaFit Meals, added, "We are excited for MegaFit’s next stage of growth in Marshall County and pleased that it will be here in the community we call home."
MegaFit Meals, a USDA-certified meal prep company, began in 2015 by selling fresh meals in local fitness facilities. It has since grown into a multimillion-dollar operation, manufacturing, packaging, and distributing frozen prepared meals nationwide while remaining headquartered in Marshall County.
To support the project, the Kentucky Economic Development Finance Authority (KEDFA) preliminarily approved a 10-year incentive agreement under the Kentucky Business Investment program. This performance-based agreement could provide up to $250,000 in tax incentives if MegaFit Meals meets its investment and job creation targets, including maintaining 40 full-time jobs with an average hourly wage of $25.01, including benefits.
Local leaders also lauded the expansion. Marshall County Judge/Executive Kevin Spraggs said, "MegaFit Meals’ expansion is a tremendous investment in the future of Marshall County. Their decision to expand here and create 40 new jobs is a reflection of the strength of our workforce." Calvert City Mayor Gene Colburn noted the company's transformation from a local business into a nationally recognized food brand.
This investment contributes to Kentucky's record economic growth, with Gov. Beshear's administration announcing over $50.7 billion in private-sector investments and more than 70,000 jobs created since its inception.
