Professor Paul So's SYYK Foundation donated $3 million to establish an endowed professorship in the Department of Physics and Astronomy, aiming to propel the university to the forefront of quantum science education and capabilities.
Mason Enterprise has also forged a strategic partnership with Akiak Technology LLC, an Alaskan tribal-owned firm. This collaboration focuses on delivering impactful artificial intelligence solutions while supporting Indigenous communities, fostering business innovation, workforce development, and mutually beneficial growth opportunities.
In research, Professors Alexander Brodsky, Cameron Nowzari, and Daigo Shishika are developing smart-swarm technologies. Their work aims to enable single human operators to manage entire robot swarms, assisting military planners in coordinating unmanned aerial and ground vehicles within Human-Machine Integrated Formations.
Furthermore, George Mason's intercollegiate quiz bowl team achieved national recognition this year. After being nonexistent just three years ago, the team debuted on the national stage, securing two major tournament victories—the first in the university's quiz bowl history.
