The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) is distributing nearly $3 million in refunds to consumers who were defrauded by a deceptive mortgage relief scheme. The operation, known as Golden Home Services and Home Matters USA, falsely promised homeowners reduced mortgage payments and foreclosure prevention.
This action provides restitution to individuals who paid for services that ultimately failed to deliver on their fraudulent claims. The FTC's efforts aim to compensate those who were financially harmed by the scheme's misleading assurances regarding critical housing assistance.
