The Wall Street Journal Editorial Board is reporting that President Donald J Trump is redoubling economic pressure on Iran, with the U.S. Treasury launching "Operation Economic Outcast." It said these intensified sanctions, involving Scott Bessent, are showing signs of effectiveness against the Iranian regime.

The Editorial Board also reported on President Trump's threat of a 50% tariff on automobiles and parts imported from Canada. It said this proposed tariff would punish U.S. companies, specifically mentioning Ford Motor, and that the escalation of this trade dispute with Canada makes no economic or political sense.

Separately, the Editorial Board noted a court ruling that South Carolina's voting laws cannot favor senior citizens. It questioned whether the Justices of the Supreme Court will agree with this decision.
