Fairfax City announced several upcoming events and initiatives, including a "Rock the Block" concert, a public safety audit for Pickett Road, and the opening of applications for the FY2027 Nonprofit Grant Program.
The "Rock the Block" concert on August 28 from 6:30-9:30 p.m. at Old Town Square will feature My Chemical Bromance, a tribute band. Attendees can enjoy food from various vendors and wines from Star in the Valley Winery. Additionally, fireworks originally scheduled for August 27 have been postponed to September 3.
Residents are invited to participate in a safety audit for Pickett Road by pinning locations of concern on an interactive map or attending an open house on September 16 from 5-7 p.m. at Historic Blenheim. The city is also accepting applications for its FY2027 Nonprofit Grant Program until October 1, offering grants between $5,000 and $40,000 for eligible organizations.
Furthermore, a Zoning Ordinance Amendments Open House is scheduled for September 2 from 5-8 p.m. at the Sherwood Center, allowing residents to review proposed changes and provide feedback before public hearings this fall.
