Detectives from the Fairfax County Police Department's Major Crimes Bureau have charged a 16-year-old male in connection with a non-fatal double shooting in Hybla Valley.

On September 29, at 4:30 p.m., officers responded to the 7700 block of Richmond Highway for a shooting. They located an adult male suffering from a gunshot wound to his lower body, and a second adult male was found nearby with a gunshot wound to his upper body. Both victims were transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Preliminarily, detectives determined that the victims and the suspect were known to each other and were involved in a verbal argument when the shooting occurred. Through their investigation, detectives identified a 16-year-old male as the shooter.

On October 1, the 16-year-old turned himself in at the Fairfax County Juvenile Detention Center. He was charged with Willfully Discharging a Firearm in a Public Place Causing Injury and held at the Detention Center.

Victim specialists from the Major Crimes Bureau's Victim Services Division have been assigned to ensure the victims are receiving appropriate resources and assistance.
