The Port of Long Beach's Community Sponsorship Program achieved a record-breaking fiscal year 2026, awarding over $3 million to nonprofit community groups for various local events and projects. Harbor Commissioners approved 353 sponsorships totaling $944,725 in the final round, contributing to a grand total of $3,080,625 distributed across 1,047 sponsorships from 1,190 applications.
These funds support initiatives focused on the environment, education, social justice, the arts, and historic preservation, aiming to inform residents about the Port's operations. Long Beach Harbor Commission President Frank Colonna said, "The robust response to this year’s sponsorship program reflects the strong partnership between the Port and the incredible organizations serving our community."
Port of Long Beach CEO Dr. Noel Hacegaba added, "These sponsorships reflect our commitment to supporting the people and organizations that make Long Beach a vibrant, more connected community." The program, recognized as the largest of any U.S. port, continues to expand its reach.
The next application period for sponsorships is scheduled from September 1-30. The Port of Long Beach is also pursuing its 2050 vision, planning to double annual container volumes to 20 million units and investing $3.3 billion in infrastructure over the next decade, aiming to double its economic benefits and job creation across the U.S.
