The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) will host a virtual public meeting on August 10 to discuss its proposed rule, “Reforming and Modernizing the NRC’s Radiation Protection Framework.” The meeting aims to provide stakeholders with an overview of the new regulations and their implementation.

NRC staff will present details of the proposed rule, which was published in the Federal Register on July 15. Participants will have the opportunity to ask questions regarding the framework and its related activities. The virtual meeting is scheduled from 1-2:30 p.m. Eastern time and can be accessed via Microsoft Teams.

This initiative supports the NRC's core mission to protect public health, safety, and security, and to regulate the civilian use of nuclear materials. The agency is actively collaborating with interagency partners to implement reforms outlined in new Executive Orders and the ADVANCE Act, seeking to streamline agency activities and enhance efficiency.
