Two individuals face federal attempted robbery charges after being shot on Tuesday during an alleged attempt to rob federal agents in an undercover operation in Country Club Hills, Illinois. A third person is charged with forcibly assaulting a federal officer during an escape attempt, and a fourth with firearms trafficking as part of the same investigation.
Amir A. Fagan, 19, and Demond Edwards, 18, allegedly pointed firearms at two ATF officers and a confidential informant who were waiting to purchase firearms as part of an ongoing trafficking investigation on Tuesday evening. A separate team of ATF agents quickly arrived at the scene, firing shots and striking Fagan.
Chashonn Toney, 18, the alleged getaway driver, reportedly rammed a car into an ATF vehicle while attempting to flee. Edwards fled on foot but was located by another officer, leading to a physical altercation where Edwards allegedly struck the officer multiple times before being shot and wounded.
Tevin Curlee, 29, was charged separately with unlawfully possessing and transferring a machine gun, having allegedly sold a handgun equipped with a machine gun conversion device to undercover officers on June 3, 2026, in Crestwood, Illinois. All defendants' initial appearances in federal court in Chicago are pending.
