Governor Andy Beshear announced today that President Donald Trump and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) have approved Public Assistance for at least 18 Kentucky counties severely impacted by a winter storm in January 2026.

The severe weather event brought significant ice accumulation, up to nine inches of snow in some areas, and dangerously cold temperatures across the state. The designated counties include Allen, Barren, Clay, Clinton, Cumberland, Jackson, Laurel, Lee, McCreary, Menifee, Metcalfe, Monroe, Owsley, Pulaski, Rockcastle, Russell, Wayne, and Whitley.

To support survivors, the Team Kentucky Storm Relief Fund has been established. These funds will primarily assist with victims' funeral expenses, as with previous relief efforts.
