Governor Walz today announced an upcoming vacancy on the Minnesota Court of Appeals, following the retirement of the Honorable Michelle A. Larkin.
The vacant seat is designated for Minnesota’s Sixth Congressional District. Governor Walz has tasked a merit selection panel, comprising administration leadership, the chair of the Commission on Judicial Selection, and at-large commission members, to solicit applicants, review candidates, and recommend finalists for the appointment.
The panel is actively seeking fair, experienced, and civic-minded individuals who reflect Minnesota’s full diversity to serve on the bench. Applications for this vacancy are now open and must be submitted by 4:00 pm on June 23. Eligible applicants must have resided in the Sixth Congressional District for at least one year.
Prospective applicants can request an application by contacting the Office of the Governor and Lt. Governor via e-mail. Judges on the Court of Appeals have also offered to provide informational interviews to those interested in applying.
