Fairfax County Police have charged a suspect in connection with a non-fatal shooting that occurred near Legato on May 28. Milad Attai, 26, of Fairfax, was taken into custody following a coordinated response by multiple police units.

Officers responded to the 12300 block of W Oaks Drive at 5:28 p.m. where they found an adult male victim with gunshot wounds to his upper body. The victim, initially in life-threatening condition, was later stabilized at a local hospital. Detectives learned the victim was on a motorized bike when a car driver stopped, exchanged words, fired into the air, and then shot the victim before fleeing in a Toyota Camry.

A license plate reader alert from the Real Time Crime Center quickly led the Sully District Neighborhood Patrol Unit to locate the suspect vehicle in Centreville. With assistance from the Fugitive Tracking and Apprehension Team, Attai was arrested. He faces charges of Malicious Wounding, Reckless Discharge, and Use of Firearm in Commission of a Felony, and is being held without bond at the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center.
