The Washington Post is reporting that its executive editor, Matt Murray, has shared the news organization's first Impact Report, which showcases journalism produced in the first half of 2026. He said the report demonstrates how powerful journalism can drive change, address wrongdoing, improve lives and support democracy.

Murray said the stories in the report are more than a collection of individual achievements, describing them as evidence of a collective passion and purpose. He said The Post has been through a challenging period amid upheaval in the industry, but that its commitment to significant, impactful journalism in the public interest has not wavered.

He said the newsroom sets out each day to shine light on power, investigate and analyze how the world works, and provide useful information for people facing major decisions in a complex world. He said reporting is at the root of all the newsroom's work.

Murray said it is a privilege to be stewards of the legacy and reputation The Post has built over 150 years. He said the work is in service of readers and the public at large, and invited readers to review the report.
