A Massachusetts man, Everton Luis Teixeira Da Silva, 23, of Framingham, has been sentenced to federal prison for firearm offenses and unlawfully entering the United States.
U.S. District Court Judge Melissa R. DuBose sentenced Da Silva on June 18, 2026, to 12 months and one day in federal prison for possession of a firearm by an alien unlawfully in the United States. He also received a sentence of time served for unlawful entry into the U.S. Da Silva, who pleaded guilty in February 2026, will not serve supervised release due to pending deportation proceedings after his prison term.
The charges originated from an August 17, 2025, incident in Providence, Rhode Island. During a traffic stop, Da Silva, a passenger, fled on foot, discarding a loaded green 9mm pistol with an obliterated serial number and approximately $900 in cash. Police recovered the firearm immediately after his apprehension, and subsequent investigation revealed his unlawful entry into the United States.
The FBI and the Providence Police Department investigated the case, which Assistant United States Attorney Ronald R. Gendron prosecuted. This case is part of "Operation Take Back America," a nationwide Department of Justice initiative aimed at addressing illegal immigration, dismantling cartels, and combating violent crime.
