Governor Abigail Spanberger today announced significant changes to the Virginia Tech Board of Visitors, removing Rector John Rocovich and appointing Edward “Ed” Baine and Sharon Brickhouse Martin to new terms.

Baine will complete Rocovich's term, which concludes on June 30, 2027. He previously served on the Board, appointed by Governors Ralph Northam and Glenn Youngkin. Martin has been immediately appointed to fill an open term ending June 30, 2026, before beginning her full term on July 1, 2026.

Governor Spanberger expressed her gratitude, saying, "I want to thank Ed Baine and Sharon Martin for their service to the Virginia Tech community and our Commonwealth." She added, "I trust that these proud alumni will serve with a focus on upholding the excellence of this institution and maintaining the public’s trust." Baine is currently the Executive Vice President, Utility Operations and President, Dominion Energy Virginia.
