COLUMBUS, Ohio—Governor Mike DeWine has ordered that flags be flown at half-staff in honor of Sgt. Scott Ries of the Rittman Police Department, effective immediately.

The order mandates that the flags of the United States and the state of Ohio be lowered on all public buildings and grounds throughout Wayne County, as well as at the Ohio Statehouse, Vern Riffe Center, and Rhodes State Office Tower. This directive is a tribute to Sgt. Ries's life and service.

Flags will remain at half-staff until sunset on the day of Sgt. Ries’ funeral. Other public buildings and grounds across Ohio may also fly flags at half-staff at their discretion during this period.
