TIME is reporting that pharmaceutical company Eli Lilly announced its next-generation weight-loss drug, currently in human testing, has shown dramatic results. It said the medication helped individuals who were overweight or obese lose up to 28% of their body weight, a level comparable to bariatric surgery. TIME reported that this drug is the first weight-loss medication designed to target three hormones. The publication noted that its effectiveness does not lead to an increase in side effects.
