Newsweek is reporting that Chinese President Xi Jinping and President Donald Trump concluded their three-day summit Friday, as live television coverage of White House events resumed following a federal judge's decision to temporarily block the administration's ban on CNN, MS NOW and Politico.
It said that in brief televised remarks in the White House Red Room, Trump told reporters the visit had been "tremendous" and that he believed the two countries had made "tremendous strides." Trump added that he appreciated what he called fair coverage.
Newsweek also reported that Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson warned Friday that the U.S. Supreme Court had misused its power and favored the Trump administration over voters. It said the court lifted a bar on using Social Security information within a federal citizenship verification system ahead of the midterms.
Separately, Newsweek reported that Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney said Ottawa has examined the possibility of a U.S. military attack on Canada after Trump repeatedly referred to Canada as the U.S.'s 51st state.
It also reported that Texas Democratic Senate candidate James Talarico has challenged his Republican rival, state Attorney General Ken Paxton, to a televised debate on Fox News hosted by the network's chief political anchor, Bret Baier.
Newsweek further reported that a team searching for the remains of Noah's Ark shared video from inside a 515-foot boat-shaped formation in Turkey that the team believes could contain the biblical ship's remains. On X, the team described the video as the first look at footage from inside what it called Noah's Ark.
