The Korea-U.S. Strategic Investment Act officially took effect on June 18, 2026, implementing key commitments made by South Korea and the United States during recent tariff negotiations. This legislation, also known as the Special Act on the Operation and Management of Strategic Investment, regulates Korean investments within the U.S.

Under the bilateral trade deal, South Korea has pledged to invest approximately US$350 billion in the United States. Additionally, Korea committed to purchasing about US$100 billion worth of U.S. liquefied natural gas and other energy products.

These agreements emerged from negotiations initiated in 2025, as the United States pursued its "America First Trade Policy" with various trading partners, including South Korea.
