An Australian Lawful Permanent Resident, Denise Nataly Migliore, has been arrested in Louisiana following an investigation by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) for allegedly illegally voting in federal elections.
Migliore is accused of falsely claiming U.S. citizenship to register and cast ballots in the 2022 and 2024 federal elections. She was indicted on June 11 in the Eastern District of Louisiana on charges of illegal voting and making false statements to register. HSI New Orleans arrested her on July 1 at the federal courthouse.
Acting Assistant Secretary Lauren Bis said, "This alien from Australia now faces federal charges for falsely claiming to be a U.S. citizen and illegally casting ballots in two elections." Bis added that the arrest and charges are a result of the hard work of ICE law enforcement and federal partners, sending a clear message that those who vote illegally will face consequences, including criminal charges and deportation. The case was investigated by HSI and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).
