Penguin Random House is reporting that it is inviting book lovers to join The Reader Lounge, a research community run by the publisher. It said members will receive occasional surveys and take part in research activities about books, media, culture, cover designs, new titles and their own reading habits.

The publisher said participants will also have a chance to win free books. It said participation is always confidential and members can opt out at any time, and can choose which surveys they take part in.

Penguin Random House said all research will be used solely for internal purposes and in accordance with its privacy policy. It said those interested must be U.S. residents and at least 18 years old to opt in to The Reader Lounge.
