Gias Foods Recalls bettergoods Lemon Alfredo Fettuccine Over Listeria Risk

Gias Foods of New York, NY is recalling all lot codes of bettergoods Authentic Italian Lemon Alfredo Fettuccine because it has the potential to be contaminated with "Listeria monocytogenes", according to the US Food and Drug Administration.

The product was distributed nationwide at Walmart stores.

Listeria monocytogenes can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems, the FDA said.

Although healthy individuals may suffer only short-term symptoms such as high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea, "Listeria monocytogenes" infection can cause miscarriages and stillbirths among pregnant women.

No illnesses have been reported to date.
