Freeman Automation, a manufacturer of electrical control panels for industrial machinery, is investing $1 million to establish a new 4,000-square-foot facility in Graves County, Kentucky. This expansion will create 20 full-time jobs and involves relocating the company's operations from Carlisle County to the Hickory Industrial Park.
Governor Andy Beshear announced the expansion on August 27, 2026, emphasizing the continued momentum within the state’s manufacturing industry. "Kentucky’s advanced manufacturing sector is paving the way for investment and quality job opportunities for communities across the entire state," said Gov. Beshear. He added that a company choosing to expand in the commonwealth reflects positively on Kentucky's resources, workforce, and business-friendly environment.
The new facility is designed to meet growing customer demand and provide the operational space needed to fulfill future contracts. Construction of the building is anticipated to be completed in 2027. Josh Freeman, president of Freeman Automation, expressed his excitement, saying, "Our new facility will give us the room to expand our capabilities while providing a better environment for our employees and customers."
Local officials welcomed the investment, highlighting its positive impact on the region. Graves County Judge/Executive Jesse Perry said, "Announcements like this are proof that our central location, highly trained workforce and business-friendly policies are bringing investments and good jobs to Graves County." Mayfield Mayor Kathy O’Nan and Graves County Economic Development President Jason Lemle also underscored the project's significance for the community's economic future.
To support this project, the Kentucky Economic Development Finance Authority (KEDFA) preliminarily approved a 15-year incentive agreement under the Kentucky Business Investment program. This performance-based agreement could provide up to $400,000 in tax incentives, contingent on Freeman Automation's $1 million investment, the creation and maintenance of 20 Kentucky-resident jobs, and an average hourly wage of $35.75, including benefits. This expansion contributes to Kentucky's record economic growth, which has seen over $50.7 billion in private-sector investments and more than 70,000 jobs created during Gov. Beshear's administration.
