Breaking Defense is reporting that the Navy has chosen Boeing to build its sixth-generation strike fighter, dubbed F/A-XX. It said the selection gives Boeing a dominant position as the Pentagon's primary producer of future fighter jets, citing two sources.
The outlet said the decision locks Boeing in as the sole supplier of sixth-generation fighters for the United States. In March 2025, Boeing won the right to develop and produce the Air Force's next-generation fighter, known as the F-47.
Breaking Defense said the Navy's choice of Boeing for the F/A-XX competition follows that earlier Air Force selection, consolidating the company's role in the military's future fighter programs.
