American Regent, Inc. Animal Health has initiated a nationwide recall of specific lots of its Adequan® Canine and Adequan® i.m. injectable products due to the discovery of visible glass fibers. The recall affects two lots of Adequan® Canine (for dogs) and two lots of Adequan® i.m. (for horses).
The Shirley, NY-based company identified the particulate matter during internal testing of retained samples. The administration of an intramuscular injectable product containing glass fibers may result in local irritation, swelling, inflammation, injection site pain, infection, or abscesses in treated animals.
To date, American Regent, Inc. has not received any reports of adverse events related to the recalled lots. The recall extends to the consumer level, urging users to check their products for the affected lot numbers.
