Governor Gretchen Whitmer announced a significant business expansion in Sterling Heights, Macomb County, today, with Capture Group Inc. establishing a new manufacturing and engineering hub that will create at least 125 new jobs and involve a $5 million capital investment.
Capture Group Inc., the U.S. entity of Capture Systems Ltd., specializes in advanced defense and homeland security systems, including Counter-UAS platforms designed to detect, identify, and neutralize airborne threats. The new facility will produce these platforms, optical surveillance systems, and mobile defense systems, also serving as a center for development, integration, and testing.
The expansion is supported by a $936,000 Michigan Business Development Program performance-based grant. The company chose Michigan over sites in Florida and Virginia, reinforcing Sterling Heights and Macomb County as key anchors in the defense industry.
Governor Whitmer emphasized Michigan's competitiveness in next-generation industries. "Michigan is on the move and open for business, competing for and winning big projects in next-generation industries from aviation to defense," said Governor Whitmer.
Avi Braun, Chief Operating Officer of Capture Systems Group, highlighted Michigan's talent and business environment. "Michigan offers an exceptional combination of engineering talent, manufacturing excellence, and a business-friendly environment, making it the ideal location for our next phase of growth," said Braun.
