Philadelphia, PA – Isaiah Smith, 20, of Philadelphia, was sentenced today to 20 years in federal prison for possession of child pornography, including videos he recorded while sexually abusing a five-year-old girl and a nonverbal three-year-old boy.
United States District Judge Mary Kay Costello imposed the statutory maximum term, which will be followed by 20 years of supervised release. This federal sentence is consecutive to a 10-to-20-year state sentence Smith received for sexually assaulting one of the child victims, an incident discovered by a friend.
Smith, who pleaded guilty in January after being indicted last May, is also subject to mandatory sex offender registration. The case was investigated by the FBI and the Philadelphia Police Department Special Victims Unit and prosecuted as part of Project Safe Childhood, a Department of Justice initiative combating child sexual exploitation.
