Shawn Chambliss Purvis has established the Spencer Chambliss Sr. Scholarship Endowment with a $50,000 gift. This endowment will support students in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, prioritizing student leaders within CEC-affiliated organizations, honoring a family legacy and investing in future engineers.
Further celebrating individual success, Elizabeth "Liz" Busch, MEd '15, was named Preschool Special Educator of the Year by the Fairfax County Special Education PTA. Additionally, business analytics major Dominic Jones is gaining valuable experience through an internship with Bognet Construction, broadening his horizons towards a future in sports analytics.
The university's community outreach continues with Fall for the Book’s Writers in the Schools series, which introduced nearly 1,200 Fairfax County Public Schools students to authors last year. Looking ahead, George Mason will host its inaugural Grand Challenge Exchange Day on Tuesday, September 15, to showcase seven catalyst projects advancing the university’s Grand Challenge Initiative, a broad effort to accelerate research and innovation with societal impact.
