A Michigan man has been indicted by a federal grand jury for allegedly making a willful threat to bomb Fifth Third Field, a minor league baseball stadium in Toledo, Ohio.
Nikolas Samir Salemassi, also known as Nikolas Ford, 35, of Trenton, Michigan, was charged on June 3, 2026, with Threatening Communications Involving Explosives. Court documents allege Salemassi called Fifth Third Field and 911 emergency on April 28, saying it was “not a joke” and that there were “several bombs” placed around the stadium.
Law enforcement, including the FBI Toledo Resident Agency and Toledo Police Department, conducted a sweep of the stadium but found no indication of explosives. Investigators learned Salemassi was in Toledo to perform at an open mic night as a comedian and was on probation for a separate offense at the time of the alleged threats.
If convicted, Salemassi faces a maximum of five years in prison. Assistant United States Attorney Tracey Tangeman is leading the prosecution for the Northern District of Ohio. An indictment is merely an allegation, and all defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
