The DC Commission on the Arts and Humanities (CAH) will host "Layers: Multidimensional Sound as Collage" featuring renowned DJ, professor, producer, and curator King Britt on Saturday, July 18. The event, running from 4 to 8 pm, will explore turntablism as a collage practice, linking to CAH's current exhibition, "Rip! Tear! Collage as Critique."
King Britt will deliver a lecture and live DJ demonstration from 5 to 6:30 pm in the Community Room, delving into how DJ culture and sampling have reshaped music and created layered forms of existence. Attendees can also enjoy a Live DJ Vinyl, Vintage Market, and gallery viewing of the "Rip! Tear!" exhibition from 4 to 5 pm and again from 6:30 to 8 pm.
This event offers a journey into sonic collage while supporting local vendors. For reasonable accommodation requests, contact CAHaccessibility@dc.gov.
