Governor Andy Beshear today provided a comprehensive update on Kentucky's emergency response to recent severe storms and flooding, alongside significant announcements regarding economic development, state parks, local infrastructure improvements, and efforts to combat domestic violence.

Following dangerous flooding across much of the state, Governor Beshear declared a state of emergency on Saturday, with 26 cities and counties also issuing local declarations. Over 63 water rescues and evacuations were conducted, and damage assessments are ongoing, with impacted residents encouraged to complete a survey. Kentuckians are advised to exercise caution due to debris and road closures, especially during the upcoming Independence Day weekend, and can support relief efforts through the Team Kentucky Emergency Relief Fund.

The Governor also highlighted economic growth, celebrating the grand opening of Horse Soldier Bourbon's $200 million distillery in Pulaski County. Kentucky State Parks generated $1.1 billion in economic impact in 2024, supporting 8,600 jobs, bolstered by $213 million in renovation allocations, including recent projects at Carter Caves and Lake Cumberland State Resort Parks.

First Lady Britainy Beshear launched an interactive data dashboard and released the 2025 Domestic Violence Data Report to enhance protection against domestic violence and human trafficking. Additionally, $5.5 million was awarded to repair or replace 10 local bridges, and over $1.7 million was allocated to Perry County for building five new homes out of the flood plain, with progress continuing at high-ground sites like Chestnut Ridge in Knott County.

Dr. Steven Stack updated on the "Our Healthy Kentucky Home" initiative, promoting health and wellness resources. As the state prepares for Independence Day celebrations, Governor Beshear recognized first responders and volunteers as "Team Kentucky All-Stars" for their life-saving efforts during the recent emergencies, saying, "This is the spirit of Team Kentucky. This is who we are. We lead with kindness and love, and our resilience and strength help us overcome."
